XBMC Nightly Builds Available for Adventurous Android Users [Video]

XBMC Nightly Builds Available for Adventurous Android Users [Video]:

Android: XBMC was announced for Android back in July, with the caveat that the software would not be available in the Google Play store until it was stable across a wide range of devices. However, if you don't mind doing a little tinkering with your Android device, nightly builds are now available in the XDA Developers forums.
Currently, support is limited to a handful of devices, and the builds do still have issues that might keep XBMC from running smoothly. You'll also need to run at least GingerBread on your Android device to get XBMC working. Unless you're really adventurous you might want to hold off until the official release, but if you've been itching to try out XBMC on your Android phone or tablet, you can give it a shot now. Head over to the XDA Developers forums for a complete compatibility list, and links to the downloads.

Skeeball Machine Made Entirely with K’Nex

Skeeball Machine Made Entirely with K’Nex:

Over a year in the making, Instructables user Kyle aka Shadowman39 made this skeeball machine entirely from K’Nex parts, even the coin slot and ball return mechanism. Very impressive!

This machine is full-size, coin-operated (takes quarters), turns itself off automatically, and counts points using a mechanical counter. And, all of it is mechanical, using only normal motors to power it (no CyberKnex motors). There are six motors used in the machine; four of them are used for just the counter. The only non-Knex parts used are a few rubber bands and the paper for the counter.

Lego Continuously Variable Transmission

Lego Continuously Variable Transmission:

Lego hacker Nico71, whose mechanical loom we posted earlier, built this great CVT:

Based on modified version of Zblj’s Transmission. This CVT enables a variation of the speed (and the torque) from 40rpm to 200 (1/5, 1,1) with constant speed for the motor (200rpm). This device is on the way to be included in a lego car. The two mechanical tachometers show respectively the speed of the motor and the speed of the output.

Direct YouTube Downloader Downloads Entire Channels or All Your Favorites in Glorious HD [Video]

Direct YouTube Downloader Downloads Entire Channels or All Your Favorites in Glorious HD [Video]:
Windows: YouTube download tools come and go, but Direct YouTube Downloader is a feature-packed tool that lets you download all of your favorites at one time, download an entire YouTube channel at once, lets you pick the resolution to download, and will even convert those video to play on your preferred mobile device after downloading.
Direct YouTube Downloader can definitely download the occasional video whenever you find one you want to take with you on the train or watch offline, but it really shines when you have a lot of videos you want to download at once. For example, if you're planning a cross-country trip and want to binge on episodes of The Lifehacker Show, you could use the app to download our entire channel, or just a playlist of all of our episodes. If you just want to download all of your favorite videos to watch on a plane trip, you can set the app against your favorite videos and download them all in one go as well.
The app's feature-set is impressive as well. Direct YouTube Downloader supports any video resolution, all the way up to Ultra HD 4K videos, and lets you specify which resolution to download. Before you download, you can also tell the app what mobile device you have (or, if you already know, which format you prefer) and it'll download and convert the file to play on that device. Direct YouTube Downloader is completely free, and works like a charm (just watch the options when you install! Uncheck the search engine change and toolbar install, and you're good to go.) Have a favorite alternative? Don't bother downloading YouTube videos because you're always online anyway? Let us know in the discussions below.
